JMBricklayer Shadow Dragon 70014 Review

Image
JMBricklayer Shadow Dragon 70014 Review The JMBricklayer Shadow Dragon 70014 is a substantial 2,760+ piece fantasy build with integrated lighting and a pretty imposing presence. I've reviewed a lot of alternative brick sets at this point, but this is something a little different. A huge black dragon, covered in translucent purple elements, sitting on a display base and packed with lighting. It's exactly the sort of unusual display set that's going to get my attention. At $119.99, there's certainly a lot in the box. Get yours here!  Packaging & Instructions Packaging is very good and there are a few little things JMBricklayer do here that I really like. Despite having multiple bags for each stage, they've colour coded them. It's such a simple thing, but it makes sifting through the bags much easier. Rather than constantly checking numbers, you can pretty quickly grab everything you need by colour. Is it essential? Absolutel...

SupreOwls Coffin of Roses: Beautifully Macabre

SupreOwls Coffin of Roses: Beautifully Macabre I've previously reviewed the SupreOwls Gothic Skull Succulent Bouquet, which I really enjoyed. It was unusual, looked fantastic on display and was exactly the sort of slightly different building set that tends to get my attention. The Coffin of Roses follows a similar path, although it's a very different design. You have a coffin containing a skeleton surrounded by flowers and roses, with the bones themselves becoming part of the floral arrangement. There's also an integrated lighting kit and an “Eternal Love” message at the bottom. It's an unusual idea for a building set, which I like, and the finished model is genuinely beautiful.  Discount here ... use code: Michael10 The Build The actual assembly is pretty straightforward and, for the most part, relatively intuitive. I never really felt lost during the build and generally understood what I was doing and where everything was going. I did, ho...

Youmko The Treasury Petra: An Impressive Model. A Serious Challenge.

Youmko The Treasury Petra: An Impressive Model. A Serious Challenge. Youmko's The Treasury Petra is a big set. Nearly 4,000 pieces, a six-bulb lighting kit and a finished model with some serious presence. It's also probably the hardest building set I've ever completed. That's going to be important when deciding whether this set is for you. I found it extremely complex, but if you're someone who actively enjoys a difficult build, you're probably going to get more from the experience than I did. Basic Specifications GET YOURS HERE - Set: The Treasury Petra - Set number: YM012 - Pieces: 3,989+ - Lighting: Six-bulb lighting kit - Display: Freestanding or wall-mounted - Recommended age: 14+ - Price: Just over $100 USD. It's really nicely printed, well presented and has some genuine weight ...

Fanbrick Boutique Shop Review — A Little Slice of Naughty City Life

Fanbrick Boutique Shop Review — A Little Slice of Naughty City Life This was my first experience with Fanbrick, and I have to say, I really enjoyed it. The Boutique Shop is part of Fanbrick's Urban Nightlife Series, designed and authorised by TyrolMocs. It's a relatively small model at 1,098 pieces, spread across two floors, but that's actually a big part of its appeal. If you've read my reviews before, you'll know I love real city builds. Buildings and scenes that feel like they could actually exist somewhere. It's something I've particularly enjoyed with the Lumibricks City range, and the Boutique Shop scratches that same itch while doing something a little different. It's small. It's simple. But I really like it. Basic Specifications Get yours here... Fanbricks - Set: Boutique Shop - Series: Urban Nightlife Series - Designer: TyrolMocs - Pieces: 1,098 - Dimensions: 14.4 × 21.6 × 27.2 cm - Weight: approximately 800 g - Mater...
